FINAL PIXEL ACADEMY
Final Pixel Academy offers immersive fellowship programmes designed for those serious about virtual production. Working in partnership with industry leaders and regional media organisations across the UK and Ireland — including Media Cymru in Wales, ScreenScotland and Nightsky Studios in Scotland, and Ulster University in Ireland — we deliver training that reflects what's actually happening in the industry today.
How they run
Structure & Immersion
Our fellowships run over either eight weeks or eight months, depending on depth and availability. Throughout, fellows work across our core departments: Production, On-Set Virtual Production, Virtual Art Department, and Finance. This breadth ensures understanding of how virtual production works as a complete discipline, not isolated specialisms.
How they're taught
Teaching sits at the intersection of specialist expertise and broad foundation. Fellows receive dedicated sessions in their chosen areas alongside comprehensive modules that build fluency across the entire pipeline. Every lesson is grounded in real projects and current industry practice, because we work on productions first, then teach what we learn. We don't position ourselves outside the industry looking in. We're embedded in it.
Where they lead
Beyond the fellowship itself, we support pathways into employment. Our partnerships with regional organisations create genuine job-placement opportunities, and our growing alumni network actively participates in our productions, creating ongoing mentorship and a clear progression route for fellows.

Mark McGlinchy — Scotland Fellowship
Mark McGlinchy’s success illustrates the impact of the Scotland Fellowship. Coming from a film background, Mark sought to transition into virtual production. Through our Scotland Fellowship, he worked across Production and Virtual Art departments, ultimately securing a role on a major Netflix production following his placement. His journey demonstrates how our embedded industry model creates direct lines from learning to career acceleration in real-time environments.
